01 / AMSTERDAM SCULPTURE BIENNIAL 2025

Monument for the Future | MAY 20 – SEPT 20 | Minervalaan 1 | Amsterdam

Monument for the Future is  on view at the 9th edition of the Amsterdam Sculpture Biennial. Unlike traditional monuments rooted in the past, this sculpture looks ahead with a figure stepping forward . The gesture symbolizes courage, uncertainty, and the leap into possibility. Bronze casted parts of ruins and olive wood intertwine in the form, merging memory with growth. This duality reflects both continuity and transformation, rootedness and change. Inspired by the work of Futurist Boccioni, the work echoes the dynamism of our age. Its materials tie human history to natural resilience and industrial legacy. ARTZUID will feature 70 artworks across five kilometers of Amsterdam’s leafy avenues. The exhibition is free, open-air, and accessible day and night.

02 // SMALL BRONZES /  | MONUMENT FOR THE FUTURE

Alongside the large sculpture, I created smaller study models of Monument for the Future. These bronzes capture the same energy of movement and transformation in an intimate scale. This smaller scale sculptures are originally the study models for the large scale ,Monument for the Future. Their details echo the larger vision while standing as artworks in their own right.

03 /// HUIS SCHUYLENBURGH  | MAY 10 – SEPT 31

At Huis Schuylenburgh, The German Ambassador’s Residence, I presented my ‘Portraits of the Landscape of Northern Germany.’series besides two new bronze works. One is Atlas, drawn from my background in architecture. After the short public show a few of the portraits remained upon the Ambassadors request. The public show was curated by Galerie Helga Hofman

‘The Portraits of the Landscape’ explores the intricate balance between humanity and the land. Another series on display, Dancers from the Ruins of Leipzig, reflects on transformation through movement. Both series highlight how history, place, and imagination shape human presence. The exhibition forms part of

Kunst in Huis Schuylenburgh,

a collaboration between Galerie Helga Hofman, Roger Katwijk and Stijn Coppejans. Dutch and German artists present works across multiple disciplines.

04 //// ARTIST TALK | AMSTERDAM SCULPTURE BIENNIAL

Sunday August 31 – 15:00 | ARTZUID |  Minervalaan 1 | Amsterdam

In the artist talk I will focus on the process and ideas behind the work ‘Monument for the Future‘ and the origin of ideas and their development throughout the proces and its place within the evolution of my works. The talk will  focus on my believe as an artist of the power to create and  I will reflect on my practice.

I am deeply fascinated by materials—not only for their physical properties, but for the histories, geographies, and memories they often reference. Much of my practice begins in ruins, among discarded or forgotten remnants of industry, where I search for traces of life hidden within decay. I see my work as standing at the threshold between sculpture and architecture, where form becomes both structure and story.

The physical act of making—the weight of a hammer, the resistance of stone, the malleability of copper—anchors me in a process where labor itself becomes meaning. Ultimately, my practice is about transformation—how we can create new life from what has been broken, and how art can exist in the space between past and  future.

In this talk I we will discuss several of my projects, there will be time for an open dialog toward the end of my presentation, as I am curious of your thoughts.

Tickets are €10, and proceeds directly support ARTZUID. Attendance means you contribute to the continuation of this important initiative. I wanted to make clear that I have no influence on the ticket price, nor do any of the proceeds from the ticket sale go to me. Space is limited, which makes the experience all the more engaging. 05 ///// VOORHOUT MONUMENTAAL  2025

On view : Apollo | In collaboration with : Pulchri Studio | May 10 – Aug 20 | Lange Voorhout | The Hague

The large-scale sculpture Apollo was shining  at Voorhout Monumentaal in The Hague. This work forms the centerpiece of the installation ‘Birth of Apollo‘ 2019

The installation explores the balance between creation, destruction, and emergence. Apollo appears both as a leader and as a creation of the Muses surrounding him. Their positions are inspired by Balanchine’s choreography for ‘Apollon Musagète’. The sculpture is both a mythological symbol and a meditation on interdependence. Alongside this work, a smaller bronze, ‘Calliope’

, is displayed at Pulchri Gallery. Voorhout Monumentaal transforms the Lange Voorhout into an open-air museum. This year’s theme, Celebrate the Imagination, highlights art’s power to inspire and connect. I am proud to present work in such a setting, among many talented artists.
